Phil and Ewan are 2 promising young British sailors and need your help to raise around £2,000

The lads wish to take part in the RS200 European Championships on Lake Garda, Italy in the summer of 2010 and stand a good chance of winning but are seeking sponsors to raise funds to make the trip, here is what they have to say.

"We are listing to enquire if your company would be willing to sponsor us in our sailing. We have achieved very highly since we started to sail together in the RS200, we have done several events since we started sailing together and our results already have been outstanding. This includes winning all of the events that we attended in the Yorkshire and Humberside Youth Sailing Association series and some very promising results in our regional racing series, racing against some of the country’s finest sailors in the class of boat."

"We really enjoy our sailing but as the up and coming youth we, as a boat, have a shortage of money. We have a lot of expenses such as the running costs for keeping the boat in a winning condition, the kit for ourselves to wear, fuel to get to events, the entry fees to each event. We both have previous racing experience in the “Mirror” dinghy and were both in regional and national training squads. Phil managed to do very well and managed to grab the title of single handed national champion. However, I could not race in this championship due to financial and personal reasons."

"Ultimately we are trying to find money to fund us going to the event which includes: about a £400 entry fee, petrol to get there and back towing a boat (it is about 1,200 miles each way costing roughly £600 altogether), costs for food and camp site and ferry charges. However we are also hoping to buy a new suite of sails for the event in order to compete competitively: a new main sail would cost £300, a new jib would cost £200 and a new spinnaker would cost £300. On top of this we will need to spend money on maintenance of the boat including ropes, elastic and hopefully a tac-tic".

"In return of sponsorship we will be happy to advertise the sponsor in whatever way they wish. We would be happy to spread the word of them, advertise them on our sails, car and clothing we will also mention them in each speeches that we make. Obviously we do not know anything about your contacts and so we can only ask for what can be offered. Our ultimate aim would be to recieve all the money that we need but would be grateful to recieve any type of sponsorship."

"Going to this championship would give us a fantastic opportunity to have a go at racing against other nations and would allow us to have the tremendous honour of being able to represent our nation in a sporting event, something which many people can only dream of doing."
